Our Girl Talk program strives to empower Muslim Girls with sound knowledge of the Deen, character development skills and core competencies to become Leaders of self and others within the community.

Girl Talk - Mentor Program

Mentee/Mentor Program: This is a mentee/mentor matching program where mentees are matched with a mentor for a specific duration. The relationship and activities under the match program will be in accordance with the Girl Talk rules, policies and procedures and aligned with the mission and pillars of the program. Program staff/ Mentor Eligibility Requirements: ● Be at least 21 years of age ● Reside in Canada ● Be willing to adhere to all Girl Talk Mentoring Program policies and procedures ● Agree to a one-year commitment to the program ● Commit to spending a minimum of eight hours a month with for program related work ● Be willing to communicate with the mentee weekly (where applicable) ● Complete the screening procedure /orientation ● Agree to attend program staff trainings as required ● Be willing to communicate regularly with the program coordinator and submit monthly meeting and activity information ● Must have a recent criminal background check completed

Girl Talk - Participants Program

This is a weekly discussion and activity program where participants attend group, panel discussions, speaker events and participate in other activities aligned with the mission and pillars of the program. Participant/ Mentee Eligibility Requirements: ● Be 10–16 years old ● Reside in Canada ● Demonstrate a desire to participate in the program and be willing to abide by all Girl Talk Program policies and procedures ● Be able to obtain parental/guardian permission and ongoing support for participation in the program ● Agree to a 3 months commitment to the program ● Commit to spending a minimum of eight hours a month on program related work ● Be willing to communicate with the mentor weekly (where applicable) ● Complete screening procedure/orientation ● Agree to attend mentee trainings as required ● Be willing to communicate regularly with the program coordinator and discuss ongoing activities
