A purposeful life is a powerful driving force. While others search for the meaning of life, Allah resoundingly reminds us in the Qur’an: “And I did not create jinn and humankind except to worship Me” (51:56). Allah created us for this one special purpose – to live our lives in worship of Him. This is a powerful call to action. How will we heed this call? Join us for this session where will re-discover the centrality of worship in our lives and how to actualize worship as our life’s purpose.

The Power of Purpose

Did you know there was a time when the early Muslims did not pray five times a day? What is the context and circumstances of revelation behind each of the acts of worship we do every day? Join us in this session to delve into the history of how acts of worship were mandated by Allah. What was the story? Allow it to deepen your relationship with your ibaadah.

Worship is our heartbeat. However, the distractions of everyday stresses and concerns can drain the joy out of worship and make our spiritual heart feel lifeless. What is the secret to unlocking the hidden potential within all of us to transcend this worldly life and center all our hopes and desires onto Allah? This session will offer us practical lessons so we can harness the power of khushoo’ (humility) and make worship, as our Beloved Propher (SAW) said, “the coolness of our eyes.”

Even our thoughts can be worship. Having a positive mindset and attitude of gratitude can be one of the most powerful forms of ‘ibadah (worship) that propels us forward. We will all face hardship and pain and sometimes it can feel impossible to forge ahead. However, armed with a mindset of patience and gratitude (sabr and shukr), the Muslimah can brave any storm. Join this session as we explore the practical tools necessary to cultivate a mindset that can light the way forward for us on this road we call life.

Purpose Forward

Each Muslimah is a remarkable individual, endowed with special talents unique only to her. The Muslimah’s worship of her Lord is no different. Just like the Mothers of the Believers and great sahabiyaat that came before us, some of us naturally gravitate, for example, towards long nights in worship like Rabia al-Adawiyya (may Allah have mercy upon her) or towards charity like the “Mother of the Poor” Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her). What is your spiritual personality? How can we harness our unique skills and passions to personalize our worship of our Beloved?

Your Role, Your Rabb

schedule

We live in a world surrounded by “timesaving” gadgets and yet we constantly complain that we do not have enough of our most precious commodity – time. Our Prophet (SAW) once said that the best deed was “prayer at its proper time.” A life that is built with prayer at its center is one filled with barakah (blessing). How do we give prayer the haqq (right) that it deserves in our lives?

The Clock is Ticking

schedule

To give of ourselves is one of the highest callings. The opportunity to give sadaqah (charity) is a blessing Allah gives us, a chance to redeem ourselves and feel like we are truly giving back – where the “giver” is really the “receiver.” Sadaqah is one of the cornerstones of worship. How can we live a life of sadaqah, where we give not only of our wealth but of ourselves without expecting any reward except from Allah?

To Give and Receive

schedule

As the famous hadith goes, “Certainly action is but by intention.” While intentions are in our heart, seemingly mundane actions that we do throughout the day like going to work or eating our lunch can be transformed into worship (‘ibaadah) through our intentions (niyyah). Living our life as worship is a powerful way to live because it brings deep purpose and meaning. Join this session to learn how we can be purposive and deliberate about our intentions and unlock the hidden power of niyyah. "
